Medieval magic in Maremma
Three reasons why you'll love it here
- A beautifully restored medieval hamlet in Tuscan Maremma
- Exclusive events in the 11th century church
- Tastings of the estate's extra virgin olive oil
In the pretty hill top town of Roccastrada and just a thirty minute drive from the glorious beaches of Tuscan Maremma, Pieve di Caminino is a historic hideaway you're unlikely to forget.
Restored for romance
It took the Marucchi-Locatelli family a whole fifteen years to restore their medieval hamlet and transform the chapel, farm and cottages into today's historic resort.
Exposed wooden beams, stone fireplaces, antiques and period paintings combine with typical Tuscan country furnishings in Pieve di Caminino's self-catering suites and apartments, each of which has its own terrace or balcony offering spectacular views across the valley and as far as the sea.
Life on the farm
Pieve di Caminino is still part of a working farm, with vineyards, cork oak woods and olive groves.
Stay at Pieve di Caminino in late summer and you can join the grape harvest. Come in the autumn and you can help pick the olives used to make Pieve di Caminino's highly acclaimed extra virgin olive oil
The 11th century church now provides a unique venue for exhibitions, conferences, concerts and dinners.
Want to explore?
In the gardens, guests can lounge in any of a number of attractive outdoor seating areas, linger by the lake or wander along a little lane to the panoramic swimming pool overlooking the olive groves of Montemassi and its castle.
There are woodlands to explore and mountain bikes to rent. Horse riding, golfing and tennis facilities are all available nearby.
Pieve di Caminino lies within easy reach of the area's fascinating archaeological sites, nature reserves, beaches and magical Medieval cities, towns and villages like Siena, Massa Marittima, Roccatederighi, Montemassi and Montepescali.
