Borgo Santo Pietro Relais
(5 Star Hotels) Chiusdino
When dreams come true
Three reasons why you'll love it here
- A 13th century country estate transformed into a luxury hotel
- From the kitchen garden to your plate: food doesn't get any fresher
- Garden, pool and spa: a recipe for relaxation
A 13th century hamlet transformed into one of Italy's most luxurious country hotels, the 5 star Relais Borgo Santo Pietro is, quite simply and without exaggeration, heaven made in Tuscany.
A labor of love
It's hard to imagine that this magnificent property in the countryside just outside Chiusdino was, until recently, little more than a ruin, surrounded by long-abandoned fields.
In fact, since 2001, when owners Jeanette and Claus Thottrup began work on the restoration of the estate, over 250,000 plants have been planted, hundreds of items of furniture sourced from in and outside Italy, and dozens of local craftsmen and internationally renowned artisans employed, so as to create one of Tuscany's finest boutique hotels ever.
An obsession for detail
Tuscan stone walls, solid oak beams, crystal drop chandeliers, precious silk and velvets, hand painted murals, antique writing desks and working fireplaces: luxury at Borgo Santo Pietro is all about attention to detail.
Borgo Santo Pietro provides beautiful, bespoke guest accommodation in 15 individually-appointed bedrooms and suites, many of which have their own private garden
The ultimate in luxury? The baroque-inspired Santo Pietro Suite, complete with flamboyant four poster bed, elegant dining room and panoramic bathroom with huge free standing bath and Roman style shower, occupies the entire south wing of the villa and enjoys marvelous views over the whole of Valle Serena. In each room you'll find iPad with music and docking stations, LCD flat screen televisions and DVD players too.
A passion for food
Organic vegetables and herbs from the kitchen garden, sun-ripened fruit, picked-to-order from the orchard, and fish delivered direct from the Tuscan coast each morning: the ingredients used to create Borgo Santo Pietro's deliciously simple cuisine couldn't be any fresher.
You can enjoy Borgo Santo Pietro's delicious Tuscan cuisine in the Valle Serena restaurant, in the Private Grotto, or in the garden of your suite...
If, rather than a full blown feast in the restaurant, all you want is a quick snack, a platter of local cheese and honey, or a glass of Tuscan wine, pop into the Tree house: the rustic, balconied bar in the garden.
A holiday you'll remember
A peaceful patch of paradise in Tuscany, Borgo Santo Pietro's garden is the perfect venue in which to relax with a good book or a glass of good wine.
Whilst the adults chill, the kids can muck about in the playground created especially for the hotel's youngest guests, or even learn how to make authentic Italian pizza with Borgo Santo Pietro's chef!
Fancy some professional pampering? Relaxing massages, aromatherapy and exclusive facial treatments, performed with natural oils and herbs from the hotel's garden, are available in the spa.
