Gubbio: introduction
Welcome to Gubbio, considered to be the pearl of the Umbrian region. In addition to the medieval architecture, at Gubbio one can admire the frescoes of Ottaviano Nelli, in the Church of St Maria Nuova and in the Convent of St Agostino.
The local traditional events linked to the history of the town are the highlights of Eugubian life; two of the most well known of which are the "Corsa dei Ceri" and the "Palio della Balestra", which are held annually respectively on May 15th and on the last Sunday of May.
