The epitome of elegance, on the shores of Lake Como
Three reasons why you'll love it here
- A 16th century residence on the shores of Lake Como
- A golfers' paradise, designed by Peter Gannon
- Romance and relaxation in the renaissance gardens
A beautifully restored renaissance residence, set in wonderful, water-edge gardens, Lake Como's Villa d'Este is one of the world's finest 5 star luxury hotels.
500 years of lakeside luxury
Villa d'Este's bedrooms and suites are located in either the main house, built in 1568 and known as the Cardinal's building or in the Queen's Pavilion, a trompe l'oeil masterpiece inaugurated in 1860.
Antique furniture, period paintings, sweeping drapes, and sofas and chairs upholstered in the finest Como silk are standard features in all bedrooms.
The villa's most sought-after rooms open out on to a charming balcony or terrace overlooking the lake
Veranda and grill
Overlooking the lake and gardens, Villa d'Este's Veranda Restaurant serves exquisitely presented traditional Italian cuisine accompanied by a peerless selection of wines.
Typical regional specialties dominate the menu in the informal Grill restaurant.
In warm weather, guests dine in the garden, in the shade of the centuries-old plane trees.
Spa and Golf
In Villa d'Este's luxury spa, light, color and water combine to create the perfect environment in which to experience treatments inspired by Zen philosophy.
Set within Villa d'Este's magnificent park, the 18 hole golf course, designed in the late 1920's by the great British golf architect, Peter Gannon, is one of the most beautiful and challenging in the whole of Europe.
Other on-site leisure facilities include several swimming pools, squash courts, a golf simulator and gym.
Historic gardens
Brimming with colorful azalea, camellia, oleander, rhododendron, and jasmine, the lower part of the hotel's gardens dates back to the late renaissance period, as testified by the 16th century Nympheum.
Horticultural highlights include a magnificent, 500 year old plane tree.
