A history of hospitality

Once a medieval monastery, later the summer residence of Baron Baratta, it was not until 1901 that this impressive edifice perched on the hills above Portofino was transformed into hotel, by Ruggiero Valentini.

In no time at all, a steady flow of European aristocrats and stars of the silver screen came to grace the sumptuous bedrooms and suites of the hotel with their presence

It may have been constantly upgraded over the years (this 5 star has every contemporary comfort you could imagine), but Belmond Hotel Splendido has, nevertheless, maintained all of its original turn-of-century charm.
No more so than in the gorgeous bedrooms and suites, all of which boast marvelous views over the gardens, the yacht-filled bay of Portofino, and the sparkling Ligurian sea. And most recently the property has added two light and airy Deluxe Junior Suites and three tranquil Junior Suites to its top floor, complete with pastel tones and modern touches.
