All's well that ends well

The hotel occupies an ancient 15th century palazzo, located on Via San Matteo: the main road in this, Tuscany's "city of towers".
Long before its transformation in hotel, the Antico Pozzo served as convent in which trials for the Inquisition were conducted.

Legend has it that in the middle ages, the well after which the hotel has been named was used to suspend virgins who refused to submit to the "Droit de seigneur"

Restored to perfection

Recent subject of extensive restoration work, Hotel L'Antico Pozzo conserves great part of the ancient Palazzo's original architectural features.

A history for hospitality

In the 18th century, Hotel L'Antico Pozzo's Sala Rosa was used as venue for glamorous social events attended by the local aristocracy.
Today, the Sala Rosa has been transformed in attractive bar and breakfast room. During the summer months, breakfast is served al fresco in the pretty internal courtyard.
